As of the 2000 Census, this darling community had a population of 5,236 residents.
First incorporated in 1926, Morris Plains was formed from portions of the Hanover Township.
Today, Morris Plains is a popular bedroom community for those who work in New York City.
It’s also well-known in its own right for being a major operations base for Pfizer.
The pharmaceutical company in return regularly sponsors the Health and Medical Science Academy at Morristown High School as well as hosts the annual Morris Plains 5k race.
Residents with school-aged children will be thrilled to discover that they have plenty of public and private education options in and around the Morris Plains area.
In terms of public schools, Morris Plains residents are zoned for the Morris Plains Schools district, which serves grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
Schools within this district include Mountain Way School and Borough School.
Once they reach ninth grade, students attend Morristown High School, which is located within the Morris School District.
That district also serves Morristown and Morris Township.
Nearby private schools include St. Virgil School, which is a Catholic School serving grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
